Panasonic Original Lens ET-ELU20 is an original optical accessory for Panasonic business projectors. It is an ultra-short-throw lens with a throw ratio of 0.330-0.353:1, designed for 0.76" 3LCD panels. Panasonic's official compatibility list covers 6 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size without having to improvise with an adapter ring. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra rows of figures in the specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and lens mount of that model series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so keystone correction is not needed to compensate for image quality.

These specifications are subject to Panasonic's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and lens mount type not shown in the specification table, please check with us using the projector model. Ordering solely because the model numbers are similar carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (0.330-0.353:1), so each screen size corresponds to a range of distances, and it can focus anywhere within that range.

Screen SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 0.71 – 0.76 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 0.85 – 0.91 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 1.06 – 1.14 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 1.42 – 1.52 m

These distances are the clear distances from the front face of the lens to the screen and do not allow for heat dissipation or cabling space behind the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual installation should be based on on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: near the close end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the far end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where site conditions allow, position the lens near the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

3. Compatible Models (6 Units)

The table below is taken from Panasonic's official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; where the data cannot be obtained, "—" is shown, with no assumptions made.

For compatibility with models not on the list, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification—projectors from the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model number is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The specified throw ratio differs by model series when the same ET-ELU20 lens is used with the series listed below. Use the value for the actual projector series when selecting a lens.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm that the panel size matches.ET-ELU20 is designed for 0.76" 3LCD panels. On a projector with a different panel size or resolution, the lens may physically fit the mount, but the image circle and edge illumination will be affected.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a specified throw ratio of 0.330-0.353:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your site; a fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should allow 10–20 cm of margin at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of that model series. After installation, you must hear the lock engage fully; a skewed image or soft edges is usually caused by incomplete locking, not a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
