NEC Original Lens NP56ZL Ultra Long Zoom is an OEM optical accessory for NEC engineering projectors, featuring a Long Throw ratio of 3.95-7.51:1. The factory model compatibility list covers 4 projector models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to improvise with adapter rings. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra specifications, but in the fact that its optical path and mount are factory-calibrated for that projector series: once installed, image circle coverage, edge illumination, and focus travel are all at their designed values, eliminating the need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

I. Lens Specifications

Specifications are subject to the original manufacturer's specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please contact us with your projector model. Placing an order solely because the model numbers look similar carries a risk that the lens will not fit.
II. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance
The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This OEM lens is a zoom lens (3.95-7.51:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of distances, and it can be focused anywhere within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approximately 8.49 – 16.15 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approximately 10.19 – 19.38 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approximately 12.74 – 24.22 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approximately 16.98 – 32.29 m |
These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not account for clearance for rear projector cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be confirmed through on-site measurements and the original manual.
Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: near the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; near the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where the venue allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest image using the focus ring, and then fine-tune the lens shift.
III. Compatible Projector Models (4 Models)
The table below is taken from the factory model compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable values are shown as “—” and are not estimated.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| PA1505UL-B | 14000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PA1505UL-W | 14000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PA1705UL-B | 16000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
| PA1705UL-W | 16000 lumens | 1920x1200 |
To check whether a model outside the list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and existing lens. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based solely on a similar model number carries a risk that is not worth taking.
Throw Ratios by Projector Series
When the same NP56ZL Ultra Long Zoom lens is installed on the following series, the nominal throw ratios differ. Select the value based on the series of your actual projector.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 3.95-7.51:1 |
IV. 3 Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector chip and resolution. The OEM lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the panel, resulting in vignetting or edge light loss after installation.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 3.95-7.51:1. Use the table in Section 2 to match the dimensions of your venue. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens should have 10–20 cm of margin at both ends of the range.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a problem with the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate, then send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the safest approach.
