Optoma BX-CTADOME Original Projector Lens Guide: Compatible with ZU1050, ZU850, ZU660

Optoma Original Lens BX-CTADOME is an original optical accessory for Optoma engineering projectors. It is an OEM projection lens designed for 0.67" DLP (ProScene ZU series) panels. The factory compatibility list covers three models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; no adapter ring workaround is needed. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra figures on a specification sheet, but in factory calibration to the optical path and mount of that series: once installed, the image circle, edge illuminance, and focus travel all operate at their designed values, eliminating the need to compensate for image quality with keystone correction.

I. Lens Specifications

The above specifications are subject to the original manufacturer’s specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please provide the projector model so we can verify them with you. Ordering solely based on a similar model carries the risk that the lens may not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The OEM throw ratio for this model has not yet been listed. For installation distance, refer to the manufacturer’s manual and the nameplate on the unit, or send us the on-site image size and we will calculate it for you.

III. Compatible Models (3 Models)

The following table is taken from the manufacturer’s compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; values that cannot be obtained are marked as “—”, with no assumptions made.

To determine whether a model outside the list is compatible, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens for verification. Platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but the risks of ordering based on a similar model are not worth taking.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

• The panel size must match.BX-CTADOME is designed for 0.67" DLP (ProScene ZU series) panels. Even if the mount fits, the image circle and edge illuminance may be affected on projectors with a different panel size or resolution.
• Calculate the installation distance first.Use the throw ratio specified in the manufacturer’s manual, calculate the distance from the required image size, and allow a 10–20 cm margin for installation tolerances.
• Check the mount and locking mechanism.The OEM lens is calibrated to the mount used on projectors in this series. After installation, you must hear it click into the locked position. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual equipment is the safest approach.
