Zorsika WE Series · Model WE298 (Internal Model L64-055) · 2026-10-30

WE298 is a short-throw lens for the 0.65/0.66/0.67 panel group (ViewSonic), with a 0.5–0.6:1 throw ratio and lens shift. It supports 12 projector models across 1 model series. This article presents the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations in one place.

Lens shift is the key differentiator for this lens. The ±35% horizontal and ±10% vertical shift range allows the projector to be installed off the screen’s center axis, with lens shift used to bring the image back into alignment without keystone correction. Keystone correction has a cost—every correction step reduces the effective pixel count and softens text edges. In professional installations, lens shift should always be used instead of keystone correction when it can correct the alignment; this is essential to maintaining image quality.

2. Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This is a zoom lens (0.5–0.6:1), so each image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. The lens can be focused at any point within the applicable range during installation.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 1.07 – 1.29 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 1.29 – 1.55 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 1.61 – 1.93 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 2.15 – 2.58 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and do not include clearance for rear housing cooling or cable connections. Values are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified on site and against the manual.

Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. Where the installation site allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, find the sharpest setting on the focus ring first, then fine-tune the lens shift—adjusting both variables at once makes precise alignment difficult.

3. Compatible Models (12 Models, ViewSonic)

The table below is ordered by model production date, from newest to oldest. It lists each model’s resolution, brightness, and zoom ratio for the original factory lens, making it easy to identify the right option for a project.

The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the model’s original standard lens (upper limit ÷ lower limit of the original throw-ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens featured in this article.

Shared Characteristics of These Models

The original standard lenses for most of the 12 models have throw ratios clustered around 1.22-1.52:1. The 0.5–0.6:1 ratio of the model featured here effectively changes the zoom range, allowing different image sizes from the same projection distance—this is the direct reason for replacing the lens. At the same time, full lens-shift capability is retained, so the image can still be aligned after changing the zoom range.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Match the panel and resolution. This model is compatible with a 0.67 inches panel. Projectors with a different panel size or resolution may perform differently, so it is safest to verify the specifications against the nameplate on the projector before installation.
  • Check the mounting interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces are generally compatible within the same platform generation, but the position of the locking tab can vary by generation. If the image appears skewed or the edges are not sharp after installation, the lock is usually not fully engaged rather than the lens being defective.
  • Account for lens-shift margin in the installation. The shift range provides some installation flexibility, but edge image quality declines when it is pushed to the limit. For actual use, keep the shift within 70% of the specified value.

For compatibility with a model not on the list, the safest option is to send us a photo of the projector nameplate and the original lens for verification. Same-generation platforms often share mounting interfaces, but ordering based solely on similar model names is not worth the risk.
