Sony Original Lens VPLL-Z3010 is an original optical accessory for Sony professional projectors. It is a standard-throw (Standard Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 1.0-1.39:1, designed for Z3-series-inch panels. The factory compatibility list covers 5 models; simply verify the projector model and panel size before installation, with no need to resort to adapter rings. The value of an original lens lies not in the extra figures in a specification sheet, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of the relevant projector series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel all match their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The specifications above are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please provide the projector model so we can verify them. Placing an order based solely on a similar model number carries the risk of an incompatible fit.
2. Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
Throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This original lens is a zoom lens (1.0-1.39:1). A given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances, and the lens can focus at any position within that range.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 2.15 – 2.99 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 2.58 – 3.59 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 3.22 – 4.48 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 4.30 – 5.98 m |
These figures represent the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and exclude space behind the projector for cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; verify the actual distances on site and follow the manufacturer's manual.
Image quality varies at the two ends of the zoom range: at the short end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; at the long end, the edges are sharper and brightness is slightly lower. Where the venue allows, the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.
3. Compatible Models (5 Models)
The table below is taken from the factory compatibility list. Brightness and resolution have been filled in from the model database; unavailable values are shown as “—” and have not been estimated.
| Model | Brightness | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| VPL-F755HZ | 7300 lumens | WUXGA, 1920 x 1200 |
| VPL-F750HZ | 7300 lumens | WUXGA, 1920 x 1200 |
| VPL-F655HZ | 6000 lumens | WUXGA, 1920 x 1200 |
| VPL-F630WZ | 6000 lumens | WXGA, 1280 x 800 |
| VPL-F436HZ | — | — |
For models not on the list, send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens so we can verify compatibility. Platforms from the same generation often share a mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model designation is not worth taking.
Throw Ratios by Projector Series
The nominal throw ratio of the same VPLL-Z3010 varies across the series listed below. Select the value based on the series of the projector in use.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 1.0-1.39:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the panel size. VPLL-Z3010 is designed for Z3-series-inch panels. For projectors with a different panel size or resolution, the image circle and edge illumination may present problems even if the mount fits.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 1.0-1.39:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your venue dimensions. A fixed-focus lens has no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens requires 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends.
- Check the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount for that projector series, and you must hear it lock into place after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not a problem with the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the current lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
