Barco Genuine Lens R9801661 Ultra Short Fixed is an original optical accessory for Barco professional projectors. It is an ultra short throw (Ultra Short Throw) lens with a throw ratio of 0.40:1. The official compatibility list covers 28 models; before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size, with no adapter ring workaround required. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra rows of specifications, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated to the optical path and lens mount of that projector series: once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focus travel all meet their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

1. Lens Specifications
| Brand | Barco (Barco) |
| Lens Model | R9801661 Ultra Short Fixed |
| Throw Ratio | 0.40:1 |
| Product Type | Ultra short throw (Ultra Short Throw) |
| Compatible Projector Models | 28 units |

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specifications table, please contact us with the projector model for verification. Placing an order solely because the model numbers are similar risks an installation that does not fit.
2. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine lens has a fixed focal length (0.40:1), so the installation distance varies linearly with the image size, with no adjustment range. Accurate measurements are therefore essential before installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 0.86 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 1.03 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 1.29 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 1.72 m |
The above figures represent the clear distance from the front face of the lens to the screen and do not include space behind the projector for cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 frame; for actual installation, rely on on-site measurements and the manufacturer's manual.

To verify whether a model not on the list can be used, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and the existing lens. Platforms from the same generation often share the same mount, but ordering based on a similar model is not worth the risk.
Throw Ratios for Different Model Series
The nominal throw ratio of the same R9801661 Ultra Short Fixed lens varies across the following projector series. Select the value according to the series of the actual projector.
| Model Series | Throw Ratio |
|---|---|
| — | 0.40:1 |
4. Three Checks Before Replacement
- Confirm the projector panel and resolution. The genuine lens is designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or edge illumination loss after installation.
- Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 0.40:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance based on the dimensions of your installation site. A fixed-focal-length lens has no adjustment range; even with a zoom lens, allow 10–20 cm at both ends.
- Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The genuine lens is factory-calibrated to the lens mount of that projector series. After installation, you must hear it click into the locked position. A skewed image and soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking, not by the lens itself.
If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one photo of the existing lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual products is the most reliable approach.
