Canon RS-IL04UL Ultra Long Zoom Lens for 9 Models

2026-11-01 11:10:18

Canon Genuine Lens RS-IL04UL Ultra Long Zoom is a genuine optical accessory for Canon professional projectors. It is a long-throw lens (Long Throw) with a throw ratio of 3.55-6.94:1. The official compatibility list covers 9 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size; there is no need to make do with adapter rings. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra figures in the specification table, but in the fact that it is calibrated at the factory to the optical path and mount of the relevant projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are subject to the manufacturer's official specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not listed in the specification table, please contact us with the projector model. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of installation distance to image width. This genuine lens is a zoom lens (3.55-6.94:1), so a given image size corresponds to a range of installation distances. The lens can be focused at any position within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 7.63 – 14.92 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 9.16 – 17.91 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 11.45 – 22.38 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 15.26 – 29.84 m

The distances above are the clear distances from the front of the lens to the screen and do not allow for cooling clearance or cable connections behind the projector. These figures are calculated for a 16:10 image; in practice, use on-site measurements and follow the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: toward the short-throw end, the image is brighter and the edges are slightly softer; toward the long-throw end, the edges are sharper and brightness decreases slightly. When space permits, positioning in the middle of the range is recommended. After installation, first find the sharpest position on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (9 Models)

The following list is taken from the official compatibility list. Brightness and resolution have been added from the model database; entries for which data cannot be obtained are marked “—” and have not been inferred.

For models not on the list, please send us photos of the projector nameplate and current lens so we can verify compatibility. Platforms of the same generation often share mounts, but the risk of ordering based solely on a similar model is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Projector Series

The nominal throw ratio differs between projector series when the same RS-IL04UL Ultra Long Zoom lens is installed. Select the ratio according to the actual projector series.

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Check the projector imaging chip and resolution. Original lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a nominal throw ratio of 3.55-6.94:1. Use the table in Section 2 to calculate the distance for your installation site. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and even a zoom lens needs 10–20 cm of extra room at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The original lens is calibrated to the mount of that projector series. After installation, you must hear the lock engage fully. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, photograph both the projector nameplate and the lens nameplate and send them to us. Verification against the actual hardware is the most reliable approach.
