WD489 is a short-throw lens for 0.65/0.66/0.67 panel groups (ViewSonic), with a throw ratio of 0.35:1. It fits 12 models across 1 model series. This article lays out the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement notes in one place.
1. Lens Specifications

| Warranty | 12 months; damage not caused by the user can be handled through after-sales service, based on the date on the shipping invoice |
2. Installation Distance Calculated from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This lens has a fixed focus (0.35:1), so the installation distance varies linearly with image size and offers no adjustment margin — measurements must be taken accurately before installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | approx. 0.75 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | approx. 0.90 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | approx. 1.13 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | approx. 1.50 m |
The above is the clear distance from the front of the lens to the screen and does not include space for rear cooling and cabling. Calculated for a 16:10 aspect ratio; actual values are subject to on-site measurement and the manual.
3. Compatible Models (12 Models, ViewSonic)
The table below is arranged from newest to oldest by model production date and lists the resolution, brightness, and zoom ratio of the standard lens supplied with each model, so you can quickly identify the right option for your project.

| DQ8867 | 7500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| DV8828 | 7500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| AQ8819 | 8300 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| EL8285 | 8300 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| DU8860 | 8300 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the standard lens originally supplied with that model (upper limit ÷ lower limit of the original throw ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens described in this article.
Common Features of These Models
The standard lenses originally supplied with these 12 models mostly have throw ratios concentrated in the range of 1.22-1.52:1. The 0.35:1 ratio of the model in this article effectively shifts the focal range, so the same projection distance can produce a different image size — which is the direct reason for replacing the lens. Full lens shift capability is retained as well, so the image can still be aligned after the focal range is changed.
4. Three Things to Confirm Before Replacement
- Panel and resolution must match. This model is designed for 0.67 inch panels. Projectors with a different panel size or a different resolution will show differences in projection performance, so checking against the nameplate on the projector body before installation is the safest approach.
- Interface and locking mechanism.Interfaces are generally well shared within the same generation platform, but the position of the locking clip varies by generation. If the image appears skewed or the edges look soft after installation, the cause is usually a lock that is not fully engaged rather than a problem with the lens itself.
- A fixed-focus lens has no zoom margin.Image size can only be changed by moving the projector body, so the site dimensions must be measured accurately first, with an extra 10–20 cm reserved at both endpoints.
For models not on the list, it is safer to send us a photo of the nameplate on the projector body and of the original lens for verification — platforms of the same generation often share the same interface, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model number is not worth taking.
