WD483 is a short-throw lens for 0.65/0.66/0.67 panels (Sony), with a 0.35:1 throw ratio. It is compatible with 13 models from 2 model series. This guide presents the lens specifications, installation distances, model compatibility list, and replacement considerations in one place.

II. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio
The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This lens has a fixed focus (0.35:1), so the installation distance varies linearly with the image size, with no room for adjustment. Accurate measurements are essential before installation.
| Image Size | Image Width | Required Installation Distance |
|---|---|---|
| 100 inches | 2.15 m | Approx. 0.75 m |
| 120 inches | 2.58 m | Approx. 0.90 m |
| 150 inches | 3.22 m | Approx. 1.13 m |
| 200 inches | 4.30 m | Approx. 1.50 m |
The distances above are clear distances from the front of the lens to the screen and do not account for rear housing ventilation or wiring space. These figures are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual values take precedence based on on-site measurements and the manual.
III. Compatible Models (13 Models, Sony)
The following table is sorted from newest to oldest by model production date and includes each model's resolution, brightness, and zoom ratio for the original lens, enabling quick selection according to project requirements.

| SNP-ELU100 | 10500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-ELU840 | 8500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-ELU740 | 7500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-ELU640 | 6500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-LU16KC | 15500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-LU13KC | 13000 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-U100L | 10500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-U80L | 8700 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-U70L | 7700 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-U60L | 6700 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-LC64DU | 6400 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-LC74DU | 7400 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
| SNP-LC85DU | 8500 lumens | WUXGA 1920×1200 | 1.25X |
The zoom ratio is the zoom factor of the model's original standard lens (upper limit ÷ lower limit of the original throw ratio range), not the zoom range of the lens featured in this article.
Common Features of These Models
The original standard lenses for these 13 models generally have throw ratios concentrated within 1.22-1.52:1. The 0.35:1 WD483 lens effectively adjusts the focal length, allowing different image sizes at the same projection distance—the direct reason for replacing the lens. It also retains full lens-shift capability, so the image can still be properly aligned after the focal length is changed.
IV. Three Checks Before Replacement
- The panel and resolution must match. This model is designed for 0.67-inch panels. Projectors with different panel sizes or resolutions may produce different projection performance, so it is safest to verify the specification against the projector nameplate before installation.
- Check the interface and locking mechanism. Interfaces on platforms of the same generation are generally compatible, but locking latch positions vary between generations. A skewed image or soft edges after installation are usually caused by the lock not being fully engaged rather than by the lens itself.
- A fixed-focus lens has no zoom adjustment. The image size can only be changed by moving the projector, so the site dimensions must be measured accurately, allowing an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
For compatibility with a model not on the list, send us the projector nameplate and a photo of the original lens for verification. Same-generation platforms often share the same interface, but ordering based solely on a similar model designation carries unnecessary risk.
