Barco EN55 Super Wide Zoom Standard Throw Lens: Compatible with 9 Models

2026-10-30 17:35:15

Barco Genuine Lens EN55 Super Wide Zoom is an original optical accessory for Barco professional projectors. It is a standard-throw lens (Standard Throw) with a throw ratio of 0.86-1.16:1. The factory compatibility list covers 9 projector models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no adapter ring workaround is needed. The value of a genuine lens lies not in the extra rows of numbers in the specification sheet, but in its factory calibration to the optical path and mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel are all at their design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

The above specifications are based on the manufacturer's factory specifications. Mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type are not shown in the specification sheet; please verify them with us using the exact projector model. Ordering solely because the model is similar risks a lens that will not fit.

II. Converting Throw Ratio to Installation Distance

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine zoom lens (0.86-1.16:1) provides a range of installation distances for the same image size and can be focused at any position within that range.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mApprox. 1.85 – 2.49 m
120 inches2.58 mApprox. 2.22 – 2.99 m
150 inches3.22 mApprox. 2.77 – 3.74 m
200 inches4.30 mApprox. 3.70 – 4.99 m

These are the clear distances from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space for ventilation or cable connections behind the projector. They are calculated for a 16:10 image; actual distances should be verified through on-site measurement and the manufacturer's manual.

Image quality differs at the two ends of the zoom range: at the short-throw end, the image is brighter but the edges are slightly softer; at the long-throw end, the edges are sharper but brightness decreases slightly. Where space permits, aim for the middle of the range. After installation, first find the sharpest setting on the focus ring, then fine-tune the lens shift.

III. Compatible Models (9 Models)

The following table is taken from the factory compatibility list. Brightness and resolution are populated from the model database; unavailable values are shown as “—” and have not been estimated.

For a model not on the list, send us a photo of the projector nameplate and the existing lens so we can verify compatibility. Projectors based on the same-generation platform often share a mount, but ordering based only on a similar model name is not worth the risk.

Throw Ratio by Projector Series

When the same EN55 Super Wide Zoom is installed on the following series, the nominal throw ratio varies. Use the value corresponding to the series of the actual projector when selecting a lens.

Projector SeriesThrow Ratio
—0.86-1.16:1

IV. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector's imaging chip and resolution. Genuine lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot cover the full image, resulting in vignetting or light loss at the edges.
  • Calculate the installation distance first. This lens has a rated throw ratio of 0.86-1.16:1. Apply the table in Section II to the dimensions of your installation site. A fixed-focus lens offers no adjustment margin, and a zoom lens should also allow an additional 10–20 cm at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. Genuine lenses are calibrated to the mounts used on that projector series, and you should hear the lock engage after installation. A skewed image or soft edges are usually caused by an incompletely engaged lock, not by a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, take one photo of the projector nameplate and one of the existing lens nameplate, then send them to us. Verification against the actual products is the safest option.
