Barco EN42 Wide Fixed Short-Throw Lens Guide: 14 Compatible Models

2026-10-30 10:15:22

Genuine Barco EN42 Wide Fixed Lens is an OEM optical accessory for Barco engineering projectors. It is a short-throw (Short Throw) lens with a 0.75:1 throw ratio. The OEM compatibility list covers 14 models. Before installation, simply verify the projector model and panel size—no adapter rings needed. The value of an OEM lens lies not in the extra figures in its specifications, but in the fact that it is factory-calibrated for the optical path and mount of that projector series. Once installed, the image circle, edge illumination, and focusing travel all meet the design values, so there is no need to use keystone correction to compensate for image quality.

These specifications are subject to the OEM specifications. For mechanical dimensions, flange distance, and mount type not shown in the specifications table, please contact us for verification using the exact projector model. Ordering based solely on a similar model carries the risk that the lens will not fit.

2. Calculating Installation Distance from Throw Ratio

The throw ratio is the ratio of the installation distance to the image width. This genuine OEM lens has a fixed focal length (0.75:1), so the installation distance varies linearly with image size, with no adjustment margin. Accurate measurements are essential before installation.

Image SizeImage WidthRequired Installation Distance
100 inches2.15 mapprox. 1.61 m
120 inches2.58 mapprox. 1.93 m
150 inches3.22 mapprox. 2.42 m
200 inches4.30 mapprox. 3.22 m

These figures represent the clear distance from the front surface of the lens to the screen and do not include space behind the projector for cooling and cable connections. They are calculated for a 16:10 aspect ratio; in practice, follow on-site measurements and the OEM manual.

For models outside the list, send us photos of the projector nameplate and current lens so we can verify compatibility. Platforms of the same generation often share the same mount, but the risk of ordering based on a similar model is not worth taking.

Throw Ratios by Model Series

The rated throw ratio differs by series when the same EN42 Wide Fixed lens is used. Select the value based on the series of the actual projector.

4. Three Checks Before Replacement

  • Confirm the projector’s imaging chip and resolution.OEM lenses are designed for a specific panel size. If the panel specifications differ, the image circle cannot fully cover the image, resulting in vignetting or edge illumination loss after installation.
  • Calculate the installation distance first.Use the table in Section 2 to apply the rated 0.75:1 throw ratio to your site dimensions. A fixed-focal-length lens offers no adjustment margin, and a zoom lens should also leave 10–20 cm of clearance at both ends.
  • Verify the mount and locking mechanism. The OEM lens is calibrated for the mount of that projector series. After installation, you must hear the lens click securely into place. An off-center image or uneven edges is usually caused by incomplete locking rather than a problem with the lens itself.

If you are unsure, send us one photo each of the projector nameplate and the nameplate on the existing lens. Verification against the physical items is the safest approach.
